Gentle, Conservative Dental Extractions

A dental extraction is the necessary removal of a tooth due to extensive decay or damage. Although Dr. Le will do everything he can to save your natural tooth, sometimes a dental extraction becomes necessary. We use special techniques at our Dallas, Amarillo, and  Fort Worth, TX, offices to make sure patients are comfortable. We routinely provide IV Sedation to make your experience as comfortable as possible. We love making a more nerve-racking procedure easy and worry free for our patients with IV Sedation. We also practice comprehensive restorative dentistry, which includes dental implants to replace any missing or recently extracted teeth.

We use gentle techniques, along with various sedation options, to make your extraction as comfortable as possible.

When a Dental Extraction Becomes Necessary

Unfortunately, it is not always in the patient’s best interest to save the tooth. In some cases, we simply cannot save the tooth, whereas in others, attempting to do so could lead to further complications. Cases in which we typically recommend an extraction include:

  • Severe tooth decay
  • Substantial tooth damage
  • Breakage to gum line
  • Advanced gum disease
  • Dental trauma
  • Problematic wisdom teeth
  • Dental abnormalities or crowding

Dental ExtractionsFor all teeth except wisdom teeth, we can often times immediately begin the dental implant process following the extraction. This helps prevent the negative effects on your oral health that tooth loss can have, and also ensures maximum functionality. To ensure your comfort throughout the extraction process, we offer multiple sedation options, including intravenous (IV) sedation.

All of our Doctors are certified in IV sedation, and we also have a sedation assistant to help with patient monitoring throughout the procedure. We use the most advanced technology available, including our hospital-grade EKG monitoring system, a pulse oximeter, along with End Tital C02 measurement. This helps to ensure patient safety and comfort for the duration of the extraction process.

Wisdom Tooth Extractions

It is important to note that not all wisdom teeth require removal. Generally, we only recommend removing the third molars when the patient is experiencing complications or is likely to in the future. Typically this is when wisdom teeth are Impacted. Most wisdom teeth cannot fully erupt or become impacted beneath the surface of the gums. Patients may suffer jaw pain and the wisdom teeth could also cause surrounding teeth to shift out of alignment.
